Earth System Processes conference

Geoscientists from all over the world attended and spoke at this seminal meeting.  Its theme was moving from isolated studies to those linking contributions from many branches of science, thereby attempting to match the complex web of interactions on every scale and at every pace that is the essence of the way the world works and has evolved.  Topics covered a huge range, from the “Snowball Earth” hypothesis to issues linking life and inorganic processes, deep mantle processes to sea-floor hydrothermal systems, molecular palaeobiology to the fossil record.  Indeed, the scope is too broad for me adequately to summarise here.  While it remains active, readers can read all the abstracts of papers presented at:
